What better way to encourage physical activity in young children than to give them a football! A nice summer evening sew which looks complicated but actually isn't as bad as all that! 

Or let your imagination play - make in lots of different pastel colours, pop a bell in the filling, add a hanging ribbon and you've made a lovely nursery decoration! 

(Not sure I would let a baby actually play with it, but still - if you're handy with a touch of embroidery, you could pop the name & birth date on etc as a lovely 'Welcome to the World' gift AND use up some scraps that lets face it - none of us can actually throw away! )
